Uber is preparing to launch its new feature in India that allows users to schedule rides in advance. The feature was launched in the Seattle in June and is coming to more cities in phases. For India, Uber is reportedly in talks with partners like airlines to bundle the ride scheduling option while booking tickets.

Ola has always offered the option to book rides in advance, however, Uber had resisted from offering the service, which it wanted to be spontaneous. However, many users complain about not finding a cab when they need one, especially for scheduled tasks like catching a flight or hitting a meeting.

Uber is in talks with airline Jet Airways to integrate its service, which will eventually allow users to book flight, pick and drop service from Uber from a single platform,Hindusbusinessline reports. Uber is targeting business customers for this service.

The scheduled ride option allows a rider to pre-book a cab 30 minutes to 30 days in advance. When booked, the traveller will be sent a booking reminder once 24 hours before the booking and another final reminder 30 minutes before the cab arrives. With the scheduling option, users can be sure that be it midnight or traffic rush hour, the advance booking will get them a cab at the time and date they need it.
However, the pre-booking option for an Uber cab is only restricted to the UberX fleet of cabs. UberGo, which is the cheapest and the most popular among Uber riders in India, will continue with real-time booking as of now. The fares of UberX cabs are almost double the fares of UberGo.

Riders won’t get away from surge pricing either. In case surge pricing is in effect during the time of pickup, the rider would be notified about it and will have the option to cancel the ride without incurring any cancellation fee.
