Two Mumbai women were today ordered by a court to 14 days in jail for their post on Facebook on the shutdown of Mumbai on Sunday, the day of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray's funeral. However, they were bailed within hours of being arrested after paying two bonds Rs. 15,000 each. (Your Say)
One of the women had written on her Facebook page, "Respect is earned, not given and definitely not forced. Today Mumbai shuts down due to fear and not due to respect". Her friend had "liked" the post.
Police had arrested both the women at 10:30 this morning and they were booked under Section 295 A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for "deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings or any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs."
