The revamped version of the app — Truecaller 8 — is now available on Android. In addition to a complete redesign, the app features a host of new features.

Truecaller now enables SMS

Truecaller’s engine is now able to bring a sense of order to your messaging inbox. You could now ignore those messages claiming to help you shed 25kg without heavy exercising.

Flash Messaging saves you time

Truecaller 8 will come with a Flash Messaging feature that allows users to quickly respond to text conversation with other Truecaller users using pre-crafted messages.

Truecaller Pay: Bring it on, digital

Thanks to a tie-up with ICICI Bank, Truecaller is now connected to the UPI system. Sending and receiving payments between Truecaller users is as simple as messaging. “Just tap and send money without having to install multiple apps on your smartphone,” says Zarrighalan.

Caller ID for feature phones

Thanks to a partnership with Airtel, consumers with feature phones would know details of the calling party. This is due to a feature at the network end, wherein Airtel can query the Truecaller database and send the notification to the feature phone just as if the number was saved on the user’s address book.

Google Duo on Truecaller

Google’s Duo video calling app is now closely integrated with Truecaller 8. And since Android devices will come pre-bundled with the Google Duo app, the Truecaller integration enables it to fetch relevant information and present it within the app interface.

Truecaller, Airtel Partner to Bring Caller ID to Feature Phones Without Data

Truecaller on Tuesday announced a partnership with India's largest telecom services provider, Airtel, to extend Truecaller's Caller ID to Airtel's feature phones, even those without a data connection. According to the company, the callers will be identified from Truecaller's database, and this information will be sent to the customers via a Flash SMS before the call hits the users' phone.

Airtel and Truecaller will offer this functionality as a subscription-based service to help end-users avoid unwanted spam calls without having to get a smartphone or a data service. Named "Airtel Truecaller ID", the service will be rolling out in April across India, and all feature phone users with Airtel mobile services will be able to subscribe to this feature.

Truecaller for feature phones now available in India

Swedish firm Truecaller said its new service for feature phones or mobile phones with no internet will be available only in India on Bharti Airtel’s network. The company, however, said it will look at opening its new caller ID service for other markets later.

“This is the first-of-its-kind service that we are providing with Airtel in India. We want to work towards ensuring that more and more users are able to enjoy this service for now. “We will be happy to evaluate more options and markets at a later stage,” Truecaller CSO and Co-founder Nami Zarringhalam told PTI .

everyone wants to use UPI, even WhatsApp is going to roll out UPI & get in the payments system

This is the most intrusive update from truecaller. We keep getting notifications to turn sms on when we don't want to. Also it keeps reminding about the missed call notifications. Ridiculous.

Worst update, forcefully gives me sms/missed call notifications even if I dont want it to. I think truecaller should stick to what made it popular in the first plsce: identify callers! All this sh#t like dialer, sms app etc are pure rubbish!!

I never use truecaller. The permissions they want is too much. I stopped using freecharge as they wanted SMS permission & the app won't work if we don't give that permission.
