Tremors Felt In Myanmar And Some Parts Of Assam
 
A strong earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter Scale jolted Myanmar-India border region, neighbouring Bangladesh and parts of the region on Tuesday morning. “A 5.5 magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar-India border region at 7:11 AM this morning,” news agency ANI reported quoting India Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to initial reports, the epicentre of the earthquake was determined 57 km from Khampat, Myanmar (Burma), which hit the region at 7.41 a.m., the US Geological Survey said. Police and fire officials said there were no reports of any major damage so far, Xinhua news agency reported. Tremors were also felt in Indian regions bordering Myanmar. People were seen running out of their houses out of fear in some parts of the Myanmar when the earthquake struck. More details are awaited.

Yesterday, an earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale hit Delhi and its surrounding areas. The earthquake was measured at a depth of 16 kms. The epicenter was Chhajiawas in Haryana, about 100 kms from the capital.
