Trichy (Tamil Nadu), Aug 20: Joseph Louis, son of late Congress MP L Adaikalaraj and a member of the general body of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, would present Rs 2,500 cash to babies born on Tuesday, on the occasion of the 69th birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, said a report.
Sources said Louis is eyeing to make a foray into mainstream politics through the unique scheme. The leader said to have invited all those women who were expecting to give birth to their babies on August 20 to register their names at his office.
The certificates would be handed over to the new parents on the occasion of Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram's birthday on September 16.
The Trichy Congress leadership said a number of welfare schemes would also be announced during the occasion of Rajiv Gandhi's birthday.
