Tinder, one of the most popular social discovery service app has announced the launch of Tinder Social in India. In addition to India, Tinder Social is being launched in UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. This feature gives the users, the ability to create entire groups of people, meet new people, plan activities and hang out together. This feature is the virtual take on how we make a new connection in the real world, with a group of friends, meeting people with shared common interests and meeting at a place together.
The feature was first launched in Australia during the test run by Tinder. Tinder Social users adapted the feature well and have organized pub crawls, met for concerts and more using the app. “Tinder Social is designed to make it as easy as possible to plan your night, get out into the real world and meet new people. The new feature takes the Tinder experience to a new level, offering our users more ways to expand their social circles and interact with potential matches. We believe it’s the ultimate tool for planning your next adventure,” said Sean Rad, CEO, and co-founder of Tinder.
“We’re excited to bring Tinder Social to India – this feature offers a simple, fun way for our users to continue seeking new experiences and forging meaningful connections,” added Taru Kapoor, Head, India for Tinder. The app works by updating the existing Tinder app and ‘unlocking’ the feature.
Once the feature is unlocked, people can add 1-3 friends to the group, provided they have opted for Tinder Social. Next up any member can assign the status to the group after selecting from a wide variety of options like “Attending concert” to “Comedy Night”. The feature can be toggled on and off from settings.
Additionally, two groups can also combine together if the group members from both the groups swipe right. This combines the groups and members can chat with each other till noon of the following day. One user can only belong to one group at any given time and any member present in the group can add the status of the group. The creator of the group can also ‘expire the group’ using the option ‘End Group’.
