Over the years, the cola ads have always drawn a lot of attention among consumers and it continues to do so. However this time it involves the consumers. As a part of the global Pepsi Challenge program, Pepsi is asking consumers across India to be creative through “Crash the Pepsi IPL”. The initiative engages the consumers and to make a 30-second ad showing their love for Pepsi.
The new Pepsi IPL advertisement starts with a family sitting in front of TV and enjoying cricket match. The TV displays Bollywood’s heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor holding a ball in one hand and sipping Pepsi from another hand. But, the next moment he is shown doing the same in front the family. There is an aged lady from the big family who says ‘cut it’ and explains Ranbir how an advertisement is made. Then a person from the family puts a ‘funky hair’ on the actor’s hair and repeats the same words. The next moment the lady says ‘action’ with a person behind her holding a camera.
After the say action, three of family members including a young girl and guy start dancing surrounding Ranbir. The next frame shows an upset Ranbir, who is set to be replaced. The commercial says to shoot an ad and upload it by ‘Crash the Pepsi IPL’ ad. After the upload, the family members shout with delight.
The ad concludes when India’s star batsman Virat Kolhi coming in between the family members and asks ‘What should I do aunty?’ The lady replies, ‘You don’t do anything, just concentrate on your game’. This answer makes Kohli surprised while Ranbir has a hearty laugh at his expense.
As reported by Campaign India, the winning entries will replace the brand’s official ad on-air during Pepsi IPL 8, which will take place in between April 8 to May 24. Also each finalist entry will win a cash prize of Rs. 100,000, VIP access and benefits at the cash-rich league.
