The players' draft for the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) was chalked out on Saturday and it includes all the big names from the state. Some of the notable names from other states who are registered with the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association to play the local league are also part of the draft.

It includes two IPL stars and Mumbai Indians players Hardik and Krunal Pandya, former India U-19 captain Unmukt Chand and former India leggie Piyush Chawla.

"All the big players who are registered with the TNCA are there in the draft," a source close to the developments told TOI. The Tamil Nadu stars -Ravichandran Ashwin, M Vijay, S Badrinath, Vijay Shankar, Dinesh Karthik - are also part of the 951 players who have registered. "We are extremely happy with the players' response for the tournament. About 180 of them are likely to get picked by the franchises and we want each side to have the best possible squad so that the competition is intense and the crowd gets to see quality cricket," added out the source.

The draft was sent across to all the franchises on Saturday evening. "The TNPL officials got together to frame the rules and players' list and we have sent it across to the franchises so that the next stage of discussion can begin in the coming days. The players will be picked by the franchises on July 22," the source added.

The eight franchises will be called for a meeting on Monday . "We want to ensure that everyone concerned with the tournament is on the same page," the source added. Tuti Patriots---the Thoothukudi franchise, the highest bidders, will have the option of choosing the first pick during the players' draft.

Player Draft Rules

Player Eligibility

All players registered with Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) or its District Associations are eligible to play in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).

List of players

A total of 888 cricketers have registered with the TNPL. The players have been divided into three price bands:

1. International players who have represented the senior India team (Rs 5 lakh/Rs 4 lakhs/Rs 3 lakh)

2. Players who have appeared in domestic tournaments conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India - multi-day/one-dayT20 format (Rs 2.50 lakh/Rs 2 lakh/Rs 1.50 lakh)

3. Other Players (Rs 1 lakh/Rs 75,000/Rs 50,000)

Three different list of players will be given to the teams

(a) Under-19 players who have registered with TNPL and who are eligible to play for Tamil Nadu

(b) District Players who have registered with TNPL and who are eligible to play for Tamil Nadu

(c) All other players who have registered with TNPL and who are eligible to play for Tamil Nadu

Each team should feature a minimum of 17 players. The maximum players a team can have is 19.

The list of player offered to the teams will be (a), (b), & (c)

Each team should have minimum of two player from list (a) above;

Each team should have minimum of two player from list (b) above; and

All other players in the squad from list (c) above.

The teams can work out their squad composition accordingly. From the team squad, any eleven players can play in a given match.

Replacement of players

If any player selected by the franchise is:

(a) Injured before the tournament and not available for the rest of the tournament,

(b) Injured during the tournament and not available for the remaining matches.

(c) Selected for India/India A/India Under-19/BCCI zonal tournaments and are not available to play.

(d) Not available due to any other reason.

The TNPL will allow replacements from the pool of unselected players. The replacement has to be approved by the Technical Committee and/or Medical Committee of the TNPL.

Rotation for selection of draft

For the first year, the highest bidder will have the first option to pick a player from the Draft Pool followed by the second bidder and so on. When each of the eight franchisees have picked their first players from the Auction Pool, the highest bidder will get the first option to pick his second player from the Draft Pool followed by the second bidder and so on.

This process will be followed till either the Franchisees exhaust their numbers in the squad or they don't want to pick anyone, whichever is earlier. After four rounds, a break of 10 minutes will be given to all the teams to regroup. Similarly, a break will be given after eighth round, 12th round and 16th round. One of these breaks will be a lunch break.

Player contract

Once a player is picked by the Franchisee, TNCA will provide a copy of the Player Agreement to the Franchisee and the player. The contract will be a tripartite contract between the TNCA, Franchisee and the Player. No alterations of the contract will be allowed by the Franchisee. After signing the contract (in three numbers) between the player and the Franchisee, they are to be sent to TNCA for countersigning the agreement. After countersigning by TNCA, TNCA will retain one original with two originals will be returned to the Franchisees.

The Franchisee should retain one original and one original should be given to the Player. The term of the contract for each player will be one year covering the TNPL 2016. The Franchisee has the option of renewing the contract for one more year, i.e. TNPL 2017.

If the Franchisee opt not to renew the contract for a player for one more year, the player will return to the Draft Pool for the 2017 s
