Symantec, which released cloud-based services for email, anti virus and Web security in H22011, has signed-on 30 SMB and large customers from across industry verticals so far.
Confirming the developmnent, Rajeev Unnikrishnan, Business Head, Westcon India and South Asia said, "The number of customers opting for cloud services is increasing. As opposed to our earlier perception that customers only from the SMB and mid market would opt for cloud services, many customers from manufacturing and IT/ITeS segments have also opted for the cloud."
Meanwhile, Westcon, one of the distributors of Symantec has started enabling partners on the cloud services and their benefits. "All the 30 customers have been enabled through tier-2 partners. As of today, Symantec is hosting the cloud. The partner's job is to promote the service, and earn recurring revenues through continuous referrals," Unnikrishnan said.
Besides managing credit and cloud logistics, Westcon is training partners about the services and how to sell those. It is also approaching partners who have a vertical-specific business, to increase penetration in these segments. "The aim is to increase the cloud partners by about two or three in each of the 13 regions where we have a billing point by end of 2012," he added.
