Islamabad: The Supreme Court in Pakistan has directed Najam Sethi to continue as the country's cricket board chief for one week before an acting Pakistan Cricket Board chairman can be appointed to oversee new elections.

Irfanullah Khan, a government legal adviser, says the supreme court has also set aside a high court order issued in May that had restored Zaka Ashraf as PCB chairman.

The SC has also asked the government to implement a new cricket board constitution. The interim PCB chairman will also act as election commissioner to conduct fresh elections for his replacement.

Sethi told the court that he would not contest the PCB elections but will be a member of the new PCB board of governors.
