His budget is below 2000. So, he'll get only 8-bit console. Kid is 8 year old. So, he may enjoy those games.

For 2000 bucks he can easily get a used PSP or a DS. Those have better games and safe for a 8 year old. I play 8 bit games on my psp. Even it is pretty dated now. I bought it to emulate GBA games and power cuts. If you bargain a bit you can get it for 2k as I bought it for 3k. Got one for my cousin too for 2.5k.

If still interested in 8 bit ones. Buy from a gaming shop. You can get it for as cheap 250-500 bucks. Don't waste your money by buying from online seller.

Thanks for the nice suggestions. Infact I have this "Game-in" 8 bit game console which is not exciting though. Used PSP or a DS seem to be a good deal. How can I get this??
