Sony has launched a new 4K action camera called FDR-X3000R. It includes Sony’s patented Balance Optical SteadyShot (B.O.SS) technology, which has been is available across Sony’s premium Handycam range, but has been adapted for use in Action Cam for the first time. The camera features a 1/2.5 type 8.2MP Exmor R CMOS sensor that can take video with 16:9 aspect ratio.
In addition to taking 4K video, FDR-X3000R can capture approx. 8.3MP interval recording shots for 4K time-lapse videos. This remote may be worn like a wristband or could be attached to various accessories such as a Shooting Grip (VCT-STG1), or on the new Finger Grip (AKA-FGP1). You can use the remove to power on/off and start/stop video recordings. Users will also be able to control the camera with their smartphones and tablets using the free PlayMemories Mobile app.
Sony FDR-X3000R is powered by a BIONZ X processor – same as in the company’s flagship ɑ7 cameras. The camera also features a Zeiss Tessar Lens for natural images with less distortion. A user will be able to capture high-bitrate recordings in 4K at 100Mbps and Full HD at 50Mbps.
