Sony’s a6300 is a mirrorless camera with exceptionally fast focus and support for 4K video recording. Globally, the camera’s been available for many months now. The camera has now been spotted at various online retailers with prices ranging from Rs 69,000 on Flipkart to Rs 73,499 (with a 16-50mm lens) on Amazon.
The camera is special because not only does it record video in 4K and boast of ultra-fast focussing, it also features an unusual face-tracking system that will be the envy of many a wedding photographer. The system was highlighted in a very interesting video, embedded below. Essentially, you can register up to 8 faces in the camera and prioritise them.
The camera analyses the faces with face recognition technology and uniquely identifies them. Now, when you’re taking photographs of a group and the system is on, the camera will automatically focus on the faces you’ve prioritised and in the order that you’ve prioritised them. It’s a nifty feature and should make focussing in groups a great deal easier.
The camera’s specifications are as follows:
Sensor: 24.2MP still, 4K video ready, APS-C size Exmor CMOS
Focus speed: 0.05s
ISO range: 100-51200
Battery Life: 350-400 shots
Viewfinder: XGA OLED
LCD: 3-inch TFT
Lens: E-mount
Focus points: 425 PDAF, 169 CDAF
Shutter speed: 1/4000-30 sec and bulb
