The latest upgrade – PlayStation 5 – could be launched as soon as the second half of 2018, less than five years since the PS4.
Macquaire Capital Securities analyst Damian Thong, who correctly predicted the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in the past, has now predicted that the PlayStation 5 will launch earlier this time. To put into perspective, after the original PlayStation, the PS2 launched six years later, followed by PS3 after another six years. It was not until seven years that the PS4 launched and Sony refreshed the lineup with PS4 Pro just a few months ago.
