Sony Opens Up Mobile Wallet Feature to Digital Music, Movie, Gaming Content
Content from the Sony Entertainment Network and its PlayStation Store are now available in Canada using a mobile phone account.
Sony Network Entertainment International LLC and Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC have unveiled the new feature that enables users of participating mobile networks in this country to top up their account wallet.
Working with mobile payments company Boku, users can get PlayStationStore and Sony Entertainment Network content, including downloadable games, add-ons, themes, movies and TV shows, as well as subscriptions to the Music Unlimited service.
Customers can choose "mobile" as the payment option, enter their mobile phone number, and respond via SMS to confirm the wallet top-up. The wallet top-up charge will appear on their next mobile phone bill, or is debited against their pre-paid account.
Wallet top-ups with mobile billing can be made through the PlayStationStore on PlayStation3 systems or Account Management via the Sony Entertainment Network website.
Games, movies and TV episodes, music and other content is available for PS4, PS3, PlayStationVita, PSP (PlayStation Portable) systems and other devices.
"Offering customers the best entertainment content across the PlayStationStore and Sony Entertainment Network is our top priority," said Eric Lempel, Vice President, Sony Network Entertainment International, adding that mobile billing is a secure and convenient way to do so.
Sony notes that standard messaging rate, rules and regulations apply to the transactions, as do those of third party service providers and mobile phone companies.
