Sony Music India has struck an exclusive licensing deal with Punjab's leading music company Audio Touch, giving it a 5% share of the Punjab music market, and taking Sony Music India's total market share in the $180-200 million Indian music industry to 15%.

"The critical share to reach is 25% which we expect to reach over the next two years," says Sony Music India President Sridhar Subramaniam, who quotes an Ernst& Young report which pegs the Indian music market growth at 35%, a percentage expected to remain so over the next five years.
