Sony India launches Xperia Z2, SmartBand
Sony India on Tuesday launched its new flagship smartphone Xperia Z2 with a host of new features including a 4k resolution video capture with a 20.7 megapixel camera packed in a waterproof smartphone.
Along with the smartphone, Sony has also launched SmartBand and Lifelong application that is built around three key features- Lifelogging, Wearing Smart and Life tools.
The smartphone will enable users to capture video not just in 4k resolution but with a SteadyShot, an image stabilisation technology that captures a more stable video. “In Z2, we have 14 camcorder applications including background defocus and Timeshift video,” informed Sachin Rai, deputy general manager, sales and marketing, Mobile Division, Sony India.
That’s not all. With its sleek 8.2 mm slim body, the smartphone comes with a screen built using the latest Bravia TV technologies optimised for mobiles, apart from offering a wide range of entertainment.
With the new feature - a Digital Noise Cancelling Headset- whether on a plane, train or bus, the user can enjoy music on the go without any background noise. “This is the first time, a smartphone comes with built-in noise cancelling technology,” the deputy general manager said.
Other technical specifications include Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2.3GHz quad-core Krait CPUs, 3GB Ram, high capacity 3200mAh battery and 16GB internal memory.
The SmartBand SWR10 is a wrist band compatible with the Xperia Z2 and comes with a Lifelog, an android app that records physical, social and entertainment activities. “With the band, you can track your movements, calories burnt and trace the history of your fitness cycle. You can use the night mode in the band and track your sleep too. The band is compatible with any android phone,” Sachin Rai explained.
“Last year, we sold 2.2 million unit and the plan for this year is to sell 4 million units. We also plan to sell 30 new smartphones this year and expand the distribution network to reach 12,000 touchpoints including 500 exclusive Xperia Lounge Stores,” Sachin Rai said.
Sony Xperia Z2 is priced at `49,990 and the Smartband SWR10 is separately available for `5,990.
