Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) may have lost out to rival Star India in acquiring the media rights for Indian cricketearlier this month, but the broadcaster made sure that its competitor shelled out a price which barely made business sense.

“We were clear that either we will get the BCCImedia rights at the right price, or let them go at a price which would be economically unviable,” NP Singh, chief executive at SPN, told ET. He said that going into e-auctions, he knew that it’s going to be a high stress situation.

Now Sony would play different mind games but STAR has a sports presence in India way before Sony, so STAR would be sure what it is doing and it surely doesn't require Sony's advice...

Don’t understand how that has benefited Sony and given any loss to star .star will recover it by increasing the cost of packages in future . So if Star has paid more it will also earn more
