Even Samsung allows that with device maintenance app with Nougat. They have added it as a part of "battery optimisation"..

But Doze works only in Android 6+ where as Custom ROM battery saver works on all android for example MIUI battery saver works way back to Kitkat 4.4.4. Why restricting important feature like battery saver to only for higher android when it can be implemented right into older android which still has 44%(lollipop+Kitkat) market share ?
Not everyone is capable of spending thousands of rupees every year to buy latest android. So google should have pushed Doze as an app in playstore and make it available to all not just android 6+ users. If Greenify can be pushed to playsote then Doze can be easily

Because whichever devices use stock Android like Nexus/Pixel/OnePlus/Motorola are getting updated to the latest versions at least for 2 years. Only those which are using their own skin like Samsung or Xiaomi aren't.
It's virtually impossible for Google to push a ROM feature to all devices because of the different types of hardware/OEM skins being used! If OEMs want to use latest OS features like Doze, they better stick to stock ROM and provide updates to their users. It's not Google's fault.
Btw, Greenify doesn't work automatically on non rooted devices (Work around is there by providing usage access, but that's not as convenient as auto).

i am using samsung Galaxy J5 from Last 14 months. from last 6-7 month i notice that when ever i play any video from Gallary video Pic not display(Blank Screen) but audio comes . i restart my phone . after restart phone video and audio both display successful. but after 3-4 days same problem continues(Audio comes but video not display) .i install VX player from play store and same problem was there.then i uninstall VX player. if any video play direct from Whatsapp then video runs successfully. if play from Gallary then problem comes.currently i did not install any separate video player from play store. i am using default player (provide by Samsung Mobile)

If Google can move all it's app and even core features of android like system webview component to playstore and even update them using google play services without updating device firmware which is in sharp contrast to Windows or iOS in which whole OS upgrade is necessary to update apps like browser, maps etc then I wonder why cannot they push Doze in playstore.
Anyway what google did to save battery life to those devices which runs stock android but still having Kitkat + lollipop and have not been updated to android 6+ or all the 44% kitkat and lollipop devices are from manufacturers who modify android and there is no stock android devices which runs android 5 or below ?
