Luke Marsh, an eight-year-old from Dunedin in New Zealand, achieved the rare feat of bowling six batsmen out off six consecutive deliveries in a local contest between Kaikorai and Taieri in Montecillo on Friday (February 5).
Kaikorei’s Luke, a year 5 pupil of Brockville School, said his only focus was on pitching the ball in the right line.
“Two times the ball got stuck in the wickets and we had to get it out,” he said.
Taieri lost two wickets in the first over, and were eventually bundled out for just one run in two overs.
Tony, Luke’s father, had reportedly asked the youngster to try and bag three wickets in the match so they could celebrate his ninth birthday on Saturday. Luke has been playing cricket for three years and played in the grade three section.
Soon after achieving the remarkable feat, Luke left for a representative trial, hoping to make the Dunedin year 5-6 representative side.
