Seagate has announced the second generation of its Slim series of external drives. The Seagate Backup Plus Slim comes in capacities going from 500GB to 2TB and will have a USB 3.0 interface. It will be available in black, blue, red and gray colours. Seagate Backup Plus storage is available in stores now. The Backup Plus Slim 500GB is priced at Rs 4,250, while the 1TB and 2TB versions are priced at Rs 6,000 and Rs 10,500,
Besides this, Seagate also launched a 4TB Fast external drive along with a 3.5-inch form factor Backup Plus external drives for desktops. The 4TB Fast is priced at Rs 25,000. The high-capacity Seagate Backup Plus desktop 3.5-inch is available in 2TB, 3TB and 4TB versions, and is priced at Rs 8,200, Rs 11,500 and Rs 14,000 respectively.
This series will feature the Seagate Dashboard utility which provides a one-click solution to backup your data and you can also schedule backups if needed. The other good thing about the Seagate Backup Plus drive is Facebook and Flickr integration. Using the Seagate Dashboard, software will back up Facebook and Flickr albums to ensure that even video and photos shared through these networks are stored away safely and easily found. Even the photos you have been tagged in can be backed up to the drive.
Another great feature is the smartphone app that backs up pictures from the device to the hard drive, when on the same Wi-Fi network. All you need is the free Seagate Mobile Backup app for iOS or Android. Alternatively, you could backup to services such as Dropbox or Google Drive while on the road.
