I want to connect my old sata HDD to stb through usb for recording purpose. any cable is available to connect?

Pls confirm guys how to connect?

will you clearly tell me whats your firmware version of the SATA HDD, whats the make and whether it is 3.0 Gp/s or 6.0 Gp/s HDD.

there are SATA/IDE to USB converters available in market easily... but the problem would be the power supply... USB ports cannot power up a SATA HDD... you would need to separately provide power to the HDD

you can use connectors, that are easily available on online shopping sites like flipkart and ebay?
(they are some times cheaper that local shops who fools customers ;))

Your Stb Support Pen Drive Or External Storage Device...:huh

Now connecting pendrive 16 GB working fine. I don't know about HDD.

I have Xcruiser FTA stb & SUN HD stb we need to connect HDD for both stbs.

ya guys i know that. the 12 V DC powersupply is the problem if you give power from any SMPS i dont know whether it will work or not. dont put your hard disk into risky. There are 64 and 128 GB pendrives available in the market better buy that. when the storage reaches 90 % copy all the contents in to your computer hard disk and rock on again.

You are right Rajini but main problem would be the FORMAT in which the stb Record or write the movie contents,I mean the pc Read or play the contents or not this would be the main issue ?

STB records the content in EXT format. Windows/Mac pc cannot read or play those files. However linux can read and play it.
