India's No.1 female tennis player Sania Mirza
jumped 17 places to be ranked at No.73 in the
latest rankings published by the WTA Tour on
Monday. Sania had a good run at the recently concluded
Family Circle Cup where she reached the
quarterfinals before falling to Peng Shuai of China.
A reward for winning the doubles title at the same
event though was a 4-place rise in the doubles
ranking where she is now ranked at No.29. In the latest ATP rankings, Somdev Devvarman
dropped a place to be ranked at No.72. Somdev
was a second-round loser in the US Men's Clay Cout
Championships to Spanish clay-court specialist
Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and will now take a couple
of weeks off before playing the Serbia Open in the last week of April.
