Having already announced the Gear Fit, Samsung is expected to soon announce another fitness tracker, which reportedly will be the successor to Samsung's original S Band.

While the original S Band never made it to market, its successor is likely to be released as a fitness accessory for the Galaxy S5 and other devices in the coming months, reports Samsung-focused blog SamMobile.

According to SamMobile, which claims to have received a few slides from the sales guide for the Galaxy S5 that shows the new S Band, its design is similar to that of the Gear Fit. Unlike the Gear Fit, the new S band will not have a display; it instead will act only as a sensor.

The new S Band will send all information and tracking details, including steps taken and calories burned, to the paired smartphone and the information will be visible on the Activity Tracker app and the new S Health app that debuts on the Galaxy S5.

The S Band will also have a sleep monitoring feature. It is still not known whether it will only monitor simple things like the duration of sleep or will go beyond that.

The wristband apparently will be available in white, yellow, black and orange. It's still unclear if the S Band would be compatible with only Samsung devices like the Gear Fit, which is compatible with 17 Galaxy smartphones.

It is believed to be a cheaper alternative to the Gear Fit.
