New Delhi: Young Indian shuttler
Sameer Verma bagged his second title
in a row by clinching the Bahrain
International Challenge at Isa Town on
Sunday.
Fresh from his victory at Bahrain
International Series last Sunday,
Sameer beat Singapore's Zi Lian Derek
Wong 21-14, 21-10 in the summit clash
today.
Seeded 11th in the tournament,
Sameer had upset top seed and world
number 42 Tien Minh Nguyen in the
quarterfinals. The Indian was in
brilliant form in his semi-final against
compatriot Rahul Yadav, winning the
match 21-13, 21-17.
Speaking about his good showing in
Bahrain, Sameer said, "I am really
happy with the way I have been able to
play over the last two weeks. There
were some tough matches especially
the quarterfinals against
Ngyen and I am happy to have won.
After these victories, I hope that I can
continue my good form through the
year." http://zeenews.india.com/sports/spo...ns-back-to-back-title-in-bahrain_1820113.html
