New Delhi:Government will introduce plastic notes for the currency of Rs. 10. Initially, one billion plastic notes will be introduced in a field trial in five cities, Minister of State for Finance, Shri Jayant Sinha said in a statement.
These five cities will be selected for their geographical and climatic diversity.
The primary objective of introduction of polymer/plastic notes is to increase its life and not to combat counterfeiting.
The cities selected for field train are Kochi, Mysore, Jaipur, Shimla and Bhubaneswar.
The Reserve Bank of India has informed that since the proposal is at a trial stage, the decision on replacement of currency notes with plastic notes will depend on the outcome of field trial.

It is already used in Nepal.BTW they also use such note for Rs 10. I have used it. It's better but only problem is it's print. After few years you cant read what is written on it..

Good move if they use recycled plastics for making currencies. And say NO to newborn plastics.
