Robin Uthappa to Captain India A in Limited Overs Matches vs Australia A, Manoj Tiwary to Lead in 4-Day Games
Robin Uthappa and Manoj Tiwari have got another opportunity to establish themselves as international players when they were named as captains of the India A squads in the limited over and four-day formats, respectively. The Board of Control for Cricket in India's senior selection committee met in Mumbai on Wednesday to pick the India 'A' squads for the tour of Australia, in July-August.
India 'A' will play two four-day games against Australia 'A,' and will also participate in a limited-overs quadrangular series, featuring South Africa 'A,' Australia 'A,' and Cricket Australia's National Performance Squad.
Good performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been rewarded. A few Indian team discards like Pragyan Ojha and Amit Mishra have also made the cut in the four-day format. The nature of the limited overs squad leaves a lot of scope for youngsters to be picked for the 2015 World Cup. Uthappa is certainly one of them.
The tour, from July 6 to August 2, is part of an exchange programme that has been initiated by BCCI along with Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa to provide increased exposure to upcoming players and provide them the opportunity to familiarize themselves with and compete in overseas conditions.
Match schedule:
July 6-9 v Aus 'A' at Allan Border Field, Queensland;
July 13-16 v Aus 'A' at Allan Border Field, Queensland;
