NEW DELHI: Reliance Globalcom, an arm of Reliance Communications, today said it has upgraded the capacity of its undersea cable system connecting Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Far East to over 500 gigabytes/second with a view to usher in a "bandwidth revolution" on the route.

In a statement, Reliance Communications announced the "... commercial launch of the upgraded capacity on Flag Europe Asia (FEA) and FALCON Cable Systems to over 500 GB."

"The upgradation in the undersea cable system would usher in a bandwidth revolution on the route connecting Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Far East," it said.

The Flag Europe Asia Cable is integrated with the FALCON Cable System and inter-connects 23 countries.

The upgrade of capacities on the Europe-Middle East route and seamless integration with cable systems in North America, Far East Asia, China and the Mediterranean region put Reliance Globalcom in a position to offer high quality international internet connectivity.

"With over 500 GB of capacity to connect the Middle East with Europe and Asia using the highly advanced platforms, we are in a position to cater to all existing and future bandwidth requirements and technological implementations of our carrier and ISP customers," Reliance Globalcom COO Rory Cole said.

Reliance Globalcom's (RGCOM) activities span 230 countries across the globe through owned and hybrid networks, offering wholesale bandwidth, managed services and cloud computing services.
