Red Hat, the world’s leading provider of open source solutions has expanded its cloud computing solutions portfolio with updates including the introduction of Red Hat CloudForms, Red Hat OpenShift, the OpenShift Partner Program, the Red Hat Certified Cloud Provider Program, and the company’s new Cloud Architecture training course.

“At Red Hat, our solutions offer customers a choice, from platform to virtualization to cloud provider, so regardless of which stage you are at in your overall cloud computing roadmap, we have the essential building blocks to meet varied business needs,” said Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen, Vice President, Red Hat Asia Pacific.

Red Hat CloudForms is Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) for private and hybrid clouds. CloudForms defines the IaaS segment by incorporating comprehensive application lifecycle management and the ability to create integrated clouds from a broad range of computing resources with portability across physical, virtual and cloud computing resources. Moving forward, the company plans to include storage abstraction, messaging and high availability.

Red Hat OpenShift is a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) for developers who build on open source and end vendor lock-in. It provides a new level of choice in languages, frameworks and clouds for developers to build, test, run and manage their applications.

The company also established an OpenShift Partner Program to address the changing developer requirements for PaaS vis-à-vis proprietary offerings.

Other cloud service providers who have partnered with Red Hat under the Red Hat Certified Cloud Provider Program are IBM, Savvis and Amazon Web Services. An industry first, the program certifies whether a vendor has tested the cloud and has the support process in place.

Red Hat also provides the Cloud Computing Pathways consulting service to help companies transition to the cloud. The pathways are a series of tailored consulting engagements to develop strategic roadmap and establish a platform for cloud computing initiatives.

To complement its cloud computing solutions offerings, Red Hat has launched its first cloud-focused Red Hat Training course, Red Hat Cloud Architecture (CL350), which is designed for IT architects and provides them with a detailed understanding of Red Hat cloud capabilities and the knowledge needed to select the right components and develop applications for their organization's private cloud. The course will include a detailed, task-oriented introduction to IaaS cloud computing by exploring a private cloud computing reference architecture built with Red Hat software.
