Virat Kohli, India‘s star batsman just needs 50 runs to become fastest ever to 6000 One-Day International (ODI) runs. Currently Viv Richards holds this record. He reached 6000 runs in 141 innings whereas Kolhi is on 5950 runs in 135 innings. So it is most likely that the Delhi lad will break Richard’s record in near future.

Kohli is currently leading the Indian team in the absence of MS Dhoni. He had a terrible time with bat recently. But since the Delhi ODI against West Indies he got back his form somewhat. India will tour Australia next, then they will play the World cup. In these important series Kohli is expected to be India’s main man with bat. So if he manages to get this achievement, it will be a major confidence booster for him.

He now has broken the record in just 136 innings !! :new

Yeah Shawl bhai Virat make new record & he also deserve for his good playing :clap:tup

Virat Kohli overtakes Vivian
Richards to score quickest 6000
ODI runs

Star batsman Virat Kohli
on Sunday became the quickest
cricketer in history to reach 6000
one-day international run mark,
bettering legendary West Indian
Vivian Richards' record during his 53-
run knock in India's third ODI against
Sri Lanka.

Playing in his 144th match and 136th
innings, Kohli began the match 50
short of 6000 and reached the
milestone with a single off left-arm
spinner Chaturanga de Silva in the
39th over at the Rajiv Gandhi
International Stadium at Uppal here.
Richards had needed 156 matches
and 141 innings to reach the
milestone in 1989.

The 26-year-old Indian, who was
captaining the home side, was out
for 53 and he has so far scored 6003
runs with the help of 20 centuries
and 32 half centuries.

Kohli, who made his ODI debut
against Sri Lanka at Dambulla in
August 2008, has an impressive ODI
average of 51.29 before Sunday's
match.

He is the eighth Indian to have
scored 6000 or more runs and 47th
overall.
