Lord's cricket ground's official YouTube channel recently published a new video featuring former Pakistani cricketer Rameez Raja's all-time XI.
The criteria for player selection was –
1. Should have played with the player, or
2. Should have played against the player, or
3. Was influence by the player
# Two former Indian batsmen with contrasting styles of play open the innings for Rameez – the explosive Virender Sehwag and the original Little Master Sunil Gavaskar.
# West Indies cricket legend Sir Viv Richards was picked for the crucial No. 3 position followed by Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and another West Indian great Brian Lara at no. 4 and no. 5 positions, respectively.
# Widely considered as cricket's greatest ever all-rounder, Sir Garfield Sobers comes next in the list followed by former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist, who revolutionized the way wicket-keeping is perceived in cricket.
# Imran Khan – the only Pakistani cricketer in the list – is named the captain of this extraordinary line-up.
# The man who filled fear in the minds of batsmen, West Indian pacer Malcom Marshall, is the first mainstream bowler in the squad followed by Australian duo - Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne – who hardly need any introduction at all.
Ramiz Raja’s all-time XI: Virender Sehwag, Sunil Gavaskar, Sir Viv Richards, Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Sir Garfield Sobers, Adam Gilchrist (wk), Imran Khan (c), Malcolm Marshall, Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne.
Here's the video published on Lord's cricket ground's official YouTube channel where the cricketer-turned-commentator describes his reason behind picking up the respective players in the all-time XI squad.
Of late, picking a world-XI has become a trend with many former cricketers naming their best combination comprising players from all around the world.
Rameez has also given his contribution to the trend and his team unarguably looks world-beating.
