Heavy rains on Monday afternoon have once again turned parts of Gurugram into canals with the rains which lasted for an hour, partially submerged low-lying areas near Hero Honda Chowk and some other parts on busy Delhi – Jaipur highway leading to massive traffic jams on the highway.

People were seen wading through knee-deep water at many parts of the Millennium city.
A month ago a day long rain had almost submerged many posh areas of the city including tech parks.

Thousands of commuters were stranded for hours on the National Highway-8 owing to water logging and massive traffic jams and the situation looks no different this time.

While lakhs are being spent on Godman Baba Ram Rahim's Dera Sacha Sauda, Haryana government's priorities have come under the scanner once again owing to the lack of infrastructure in place to tackle water logging in the city.

"The waterlogging issues have not been dealt with in Gurugram even after the rains paralyzed the city last month" Vedant Kaushal, a resident said.

"This is not the first time this has happened, we have been facing waterlogging and drainage issues for the past 2-3 years." another resident Raj Kumar said.

Places including Hero Honda Chowk, Sohna Road, Manesar, Udyog Vihar, old Gurgaon Road and a few areas in New Gurgaon experienced heavy traffic snarls too.

The Haryana government came under severe criticism for the chaos after which chief minister ML Khattar promised a slew of measures to avoid flooding and traffic jams.

Despite several measures announced, the Chief Minister and top police officials after the July 28 traffic gridlock that stretched for several hours overnight, commuters again face a harrowing time after a few hours of downpour.
