‘Rain Fade’: BSNL broadband functioning as DTH in Diglipur
#The Andaman Express-News
Diglipur, Aug 27: The BSNL Broadband now a day’s functioning like
Direct to Home (DTH) signals, where as soon as the rain starts the
signals go off and reconnects when the rain completely stops. BSNL in
Diglipur also now a day are facing the same problem. Due to the
initiation of the Digital India program in all islands of Andaman &
Nicobar many departments of administration more or less depending on the
internet.
The rains are common in these islands. For two months the rains are
splashing continuously But For one week 10 to14 hours raining daily
due to depression near the Andaman Sea. During this time the Broadband
goes off and the General public, particularly the shopkeepers and
other business communities who are depending upon fully on the
internet was harassed otherwise there are no remarkable problems with
Broadband in Diglipur. The Banks, DSS Shipping counter, CSC’s all were
down due to this.
When contacted for this strange reason for the blackout of Broadband in
Diglipur an officer of BSNL on unanimity said that the BSNL department
of Port Blair knows this problem but unable to find out the proper
solution to date and moreover he disclosed that this particular
problem persists in Port Blair and few more islands too. When
contacted the BSNL Officers were seen shying away from answers. The
The broadband of Diglipur has connected Directly to West Bengal from
Mayabunder via the Satellite link. Although there is no remarkable
fault apart from this Rain Fade the 3G/2G GPRS signals of BSNL and 2G
of Airtel are equal to nil here in inter islands.
Whatever may be the reason the public of our Islands continues to
harass one or another reason for internet connection and people are
wondering whether there is a connection between signals and Clouds.
