US-based mobile chip maker Qualcomm Technologies Thursday partnered with software major Microsoft Corporation to facilitate Windows 10 on mobile computing devices.
We are collaborating with Microsoft to enable Windows 10 on mobile computing devices powered by next-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, enabling mobile, power efficient, always-connected cellular PC devices, Qualcomm in a statement said.
The Snapdragon processor, according to the company, support Windows 10 ecosystem compatibility and is designed to enable Windows hardware developers to create next generation device form factors.
"Qualcomm Snapdragon processors offer one of the world's most advanced mobile computing features, including Gigabit LTE connectivity, advanced multimedia support, machine learning and superior hardware security features, Qualcomm executive vice president Cristiano Amon said.
With this move, Qualcomm aims to bring the scale of the mobile ecosystem with an unparalleled pace of innovation to address consumers' growing need to be always on and always connected as the traditional PC computing shifts to mobile.
"We are excited to bring Windows 10 to the ARM ecosystem with Qualcomm Technologies," Terry Myerson, executive vice president of the Windows and Devices Group at Microsoft said, adding that the partnership is the next step in delivering innovations to customers.
