QiKU today made its debut in India by launching the Q Terra. The smartphone will go on sale via a OnePlus-like invite model from December 5, priced at Rs 19,999. The smartphone will later be available on open sale, but the price will go up to Rs 21,999.
QiKU is a company founded as a result of a joint venture between security-based software company Qihoo 360, and Coolpad . The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop wrapped under QiKU’s custom UI called QiKU 360 OS. This operating system however boasts performance and security features of Marshmallow, and also lets you uninstall all the pre-loaded apps and services, except the dialer. The Q Terra also flaunts a 165 degrees curved unibody, built using magnesium-aluminum alloy, which the company calls Magnelium.
QiKU Q Terra specifications and features : The Q Terra flaunts a 6-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 2.5d curved glass and a body-to-screen ratio of 83 percent. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor paired with Adreno 418 GPU and 3GB of RAM. Also on offer is 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card.
On the photography front, the smartphone features a dual-camera setup at the back that consists of two 13-megapixel f/1.8 cameras. One of the cameras captures the photo, while the other captures the shot in black and white. The two shots are then merged, which results in better looking photos according to the company. Up front, is an 8-megapixel selfie camera with an intelligent Beauty mode.
The smartphone also features a 3,700mAh battery, and connectivity options like 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, and GPS. At the back, placed below the two rear cameras is a fingerprint sensor. QiKU claims that it is fast enough to unlock the device in only half a second, and can also be used to answer calls and take photos.
