Tapping on the millennials’ obsession with
Snapchat and the ongoing Tennis tournament of US Open, Gatorade has tied up with ESPN to launch a tennis game on Snapchat. This game on Snapchat is an 8-bit style game, which is not half-bad, in fact, it is hard to stop once you start playing it. The campaign, which is part of an ad campaign, honors the legacy of 22-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams. The game can be played on ESPN’s Snapchat Discover Channel, by swiping left from the Snapchat camera screen and searching for ‘ESPN’.

The game is really easy to play. It has 22 levels in total, one for each record tying Grand Slam that Serena Williams has won. And each level of the game shows the final moment with Serena Williams’ match point, and the game lets players take over from there. The game is quite elementary and pretty easy to get started. The player movement is handled automatically, all you have to do is serve the ball and and then tap the left or right side of the screen to choose where on the court you want to hit it. You get three chances of missing a shot, after you miss the third as well, you go back to Level 1.

For the players who would prefer playing on the desktop over their smartphones, the game is available at Gatorade website as well. Once you start playing it, I challenge you to stop! As a bonus for the players, if Serena Williams wins the 23rd Grand Slam title as well, a level 23 will be added to the game as well.

Lately, Snapchat has gained more meaning than just being a photo messaging app. A lot publishers and brands have been tapping on the social media platform to share the content and products. During the Rio Olympics 2016, NBC an American commercial broadcast television network, showed the live highlights of the games for the entire two weeks. The highlights appeared in the “live stories” feed and included a mix of content licensed from NBC and snaps from athletes and fans. Other than that, Snapchat is also being cashed on for airing episodes of TV shows now. NBCUniversal produced original episodic Snapchat programming from shows like Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Additionally, Snapchat has recently rolled the on-demand geofilters in many parts and will be rolling it out globally for all users soon. Geofilters lets users create their own filters, add colors, change texts, anyway they like, by placing a demand with Snapchat for a design they want. These geofilters can be made in minutes and users no longer need to use Photoshop, Illustrator or any third-party software to create one. Users can also choose themes from the list given by Snapchat and customize it accordingly. However, aimed at being a popular source of revenue for Snapchat, the feature for on-demand geofilters will be paid for.
