The Cabinet is soon expected to consider a formal proposal for the revival of cash-strapped state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), with an approval expected by month end, according to a person aware of the matter.

The decision was taken after a high-level meeting at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Tuesday, despite the finance ministry reiterating its opposition on the revival package, citing additional financial burden on the state exchequer.

Still people like me who lives in rural areas wants the i ternet then only option is bsnl landline...no perfect mobile signals in any ops..

Off-topic: In which circles is BSNL 4G available? If BSNL were even a little competent, I wouldn't be asking this question. (It would be available pan-India.)

Wonder which sane person is there in the finance ministry. Listen to her/him and close it down. Please.

V v bad. Waste of public money. Shame.
First throw 90% employees out. Then put money.
No use. They are sucking public money. 140 crore pay taxes (gst, it,etc), for 1 lakh ppl enjoying salary and no work. Throw 1 lakh ppl out. They will not vote for bjp. It does not matter. If ppl get good service, they will vote. They did good by not putting money in jet airways. Now they should also sell air india. Wasting money.
