I came across a rate chart (on Reddit) which shows how costly the internet plans used to be with ultra low speeds before the Jio era. The OP said chart is from year 2013.

Personal experience: I used to pay 2400 + taxes for 4 Mbps plan of BSNL ADSL during that time. It was the maximum possible port speed BSNL used to provide from their local exchange. Later they started providing 8Mbps speed but I never opted for that and later shifted to LCO operated fiber broadband. 😪

I have searched my email and got the old bill using BSNL ADSL during the period 01/12/2013 to 31/12/2013. There was no mention of speed in the bill except the plan and usage details, the amount paid was Rs.899 including taxes and there was unlimited usage during night hours(2AM to 8AM). Checked in google about the plan & got this

Before Jio. My friends living in US use to say wifi (broadband) were cheaper than mobile internet. I didn't believe them.

Apart from the price, the biggest change since Jio Fiber came is the reliability of the services. Earlier, I remember that even a single wire cut from BSNL used to take weeks to repair, and there were frequent disconnections.
