Government has no control over petrol & diesel prices. (The only way they can change is by increasing or decreasing taxes, else it's the oil cos who decide according to market rate).

Also, the prices might have changed now because you can see that Rupee has strengthened in the past few days against dollar. Now 1$ ~64.81 Rupees.

True but owner of oil company is Govt except few private ones like Reliance or Essar.

Anyway good news for consumers as well as for govt as we now hv to spend less money on imported oil.
