Alviro Petersen latest to come under match-fixing cloud, say reports
Alviro Petersen, the former South African opener, is the latest name to emerge in the match-fixing scandal that has hit South African cricket. After Cricket South Africa refused to comment on the subject, Petersen cleared the air himself on Twitter on Friday (March 4) stating that he isn't under any investigation "as far as he's concerned".
Petersen also added that he reported the matter to Tony Irish, South African Cricketers' Association's CEO and Louis Cole from the Anti-Corruption Security Unit three days after he was made aware of the fixing scandal, adhering to the Anti-Corruption code.
Earlier in January, Gulam Bodi was banned from cricketing activities for 20 years (tag story) after he was found guilty of match-fixing during last year's Ram Slam T20.
Last week, it was reported that Lonwabo Tsotsobe along with Thami Tsolekile accepted money from Bodi and were under investigation themselves.
A report on Wisden India also states that Petersen is one of the five players from the Lions squad to be investigated, three of who are former South African international players.
Petersen further revealed that he reported everything to CSA's anti-corruption unit and subsequently, two other players came forward to report approaches made to them as well.
