Peter Siddle, Australia's senior
paceman, faces a lengthy period out of
the game with a stress fracture in his
back, Cricket Australia said on
Thursday (February 25).

Siddle, 31, who played a significant

figures of 3 for 37, suffered back
spasms in the second innings and was
subsequently forced out of the second
Test in Christchurch with James
Pattinson named as his replacement,

bout of back pain he suffered during
the first Test in Wellington," David
Beakley, the team physiotherapist,
said in a statement. "Unfortunately
those scans have indicated a stress
fracture in his lower back.
