The Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday (May 4) awarded 22 women’s central contracts – one more than last year – with all of Sana Mir, Bismah Maroof, Javeria Khan and Asmavia Iqbal retained in Category A.

Anam Amin, the left-arm spinner, was promoted from C to B after ending the Women’s World T20 2016 as their top wicket-taker with seven scalps in four matches. Sania Khan, the medium pacer who hasn’t played for the national side since a T20I against West Indies Women in November last year, although she featured in the squad for the World T20, was dropped from B to C.

Muneeba Ali, Almas Akram, Aiman Anwer, Diana Baig and Ayesha Zafar were the new names in the list, while the likes of Fareeha Mehmood, Maham Tariq and Sumaiya Siddiqi, all uncapped, missed out.

Category A

Category B

Reports last year indicated a Category A contact was worth Pakistan Rupees 1 lakh a month (around $955) while B, C and D players stand to earn PKR 80,000, PKR 60,000 and PKR 40,000 respectively.

"These contracts have been given to women cricketers for their outstanding performance and progress they have shown in domestic and international events throughout the year 2015," the PCB said in a release. "The one-year contract is effective from January 1, 2016."

Pakistan Women travel to England for a limited-overs series late in June, with the first of three ODIs in Leicester on June 20. Currently at seventh in the eight-team Women’s Championship table, they will hope to win and overtake England, who are above them at sixth, although five points ahead. With Mir announcing that she has stepped down as captain of the T20I side, the PCB could name a new skipper, with the other Category A players in the reckoning.
