Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius shoots girlfriend dead

Olympic and Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius has been arrested after reportedly shooting dead his girlfriend after mistaking her for a burglar at his home. The woman was shot in the head and arm at his house in Pretoria. Pistorius, 26, was the first double amputee to run in the Olympics. The incident is said to have happened at 4am today. Pistorius has been arrested and questioned by South African police on suspicion of murder, reports say.

Oscar's girlfriend has been reportedly named as model Reeva Steenkamp. She was a law graduate who has appeared in FHM. It's being reported that Oscar's girlfriend Reeva may have been setting up some kind of Valentine's Day surprise for the runner when he accidentally shot her.

Just hours before, she tweeted: What do you have up your sleeve for your love tomorrow??? #getexcited #ValentinesDay." Answering a reply she added: That sounds amazing! Wow that's what it's all about! It should be a day of love for everyone may it be blessed!
