Turn to the back, you have the camera module and LED flash on the top and the speaker grille at the bottom. The smartphone weighs just 167g.

It features a 5-inch HD (720p) display and a 1GHz quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone also comes with 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot with support for up to 128GB.

On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS wrapped under Panasonic’s FitHome UI. The Panasonic Eluga A2 will be offered in metallic gold and metallic silver color variants.

At this price point, the Eluga A2 will face tough competition from the likes of Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus , Asus Zenfone Max (ZC550KL) , Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (16GB+2GB RAM) and the Meizu m3 Note . The Vibe K5 Plus is priced at Rs 8,499 and comes equipped with a 5-inch full HD (1080p) display, an octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM.

The ZenFone Max (ZC550KL) from Asus is priced at Rs 9,999 and features a 5.5-inch HD (720p) display, an octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. On paper, the competitors are offering more than Panasonic’s Eluga A2, giving them a clear advantage. However, we will reserve our judgment until we review the smartphone.
