Islamabad: Law Minister Farooq H. Naik has signed a summary for the release of India prisoner Sarabjit Singh.
The law minister forwarded the summary to the Interior Ministry with the instructions that the Indian prisoner be immediately released as he had completed his jail term.
Singh,49, an Indian spy, has been languishing in Pakistani jail since 1990 after being sentenced to death by a court for his involvement in bomb blasts in Multan and Lahore.
President Asif Ali Zardari has changed Singh’s death sentence to life term and presidential spokesman has confirmed it. Singh has been kept in Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore.
India last month released a Pakistani scientist Dr Khalil Chishti on humanatrian grounds.
