ICC is keen on sending a World XI team to Pakistan for a four-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series in September this year. The move, if pulled off, could be a stepping stone in taking international cricket back to Pakistan on a permanent basis, after a little more than eight years since the terror attack on the Sri Lankan team bus had severe ramifications on Pakistan, the cricketing host.
According to a report on the Guardian , the overseas team for the World XI series will fly to Lahore for four matches on September 22, 23, 28 and 29 with the highest level of security, an arrangement similar to what was provided for the PSL final, expected to be in place.
Series reportedly to be named the Independence Cup to mark the 70th anniversary of Pakistan's independence - seems very much in the pipeline.
