New Delhi, May 13: More than 231 lakh tonnes wheat has been procured by various government agencies during the current Rabi marketing season.
Total procurement as on May 13, 2011, has touched the figure of 231,07,290 tonnes against the procurement of 214,73,825 tonnes by the day, during the last marketing season, an official release said here today.
Maximum procurement of 106,18,523 tonnes has been recorded in Punjab, against the arrival of 106,43,421 tonnes.
Haryana has procured 66,52,192 tonnes and Madhya Pradesh 36,77,336 tonnes.
Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan have also procured significant quantity which is 12,21,794 tonnes and 8,12,699 tonnes respectively.
