ONE World Sports secures English cricket rights through multi-year deal

MUMBAI: North American sports network ONE World Sports secured multi-year, multi-platform rights to carry every home match of the England national cricket team through 2017. The rights have been acquired through digital sports media company PERFORM.

The agreement with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) covers test, one-day and Twenty20 (T20) matches played in England over the next four years. Historically, England’s national team is one of the most competitive in the world. The programming move adds 600 hours of exclusive and live content to the network’s current offering of world-class sporting events from around the globe.

The matches will be telecast live on the network’s linear channel and across all ONE World Sports’ digital platforms, including its ‘Watch ONE World Sports’ app. “We are thrilled to add these Internationals from England showcasing some of the best cricket in the world,” said ONE World Sports president and CEO Alexander Brown. “Cricket is one of the world’s most polarising sports, and it doesn’t get any better than the ECB.

” ONE World Sports’ ECB coverage will start with a T20 match between England and Sri Lanka on May 20, followed by One-Day International Series and Test Series through the end of June. England then faces a major rival, India, beginning July 9 and running through September.

In subsequent years, ONE World Sports will showcase other dominant cricket competitions, including Australia, Pakistan and South Africa. All games will be presented live in high definition.
