People can now book domain or website name for free in six Indian language scripts — Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Gujrati, Punjabi and Marathi.

Indian IT start-up firm Data Group today launched domain booking service with .Bharat for free with extension like.com, .net, .in but the .Bharat extension will be in devnagari script.

“Starting today, which is celebrated as Hindi Divas, anyone can book their domain name in six Indian scripts with.bharat (in devnagari script) extension for free from our website godil.in and also get email id created, which is on paid basis, in Indian scripts,” Data Group Founder and CEO Ajay Data told PTI.

Data Group is the first company to start the service.

While the name of website can be registered for free, the company is offering creation of email id in the price range of Rs 100 per month to Rs 1,500 per year.

“Our objective is to create enabling technology for promotion of content in regional languages in local languages as envisaged by government under Digital India programme. This will help people develop content in Indian languages and provide access to those who don’t read and write English,” Data said.

The email ID created in India scripts can connect with Gmail IDs.

“These email IDs will be able to connect with email service of all companies who have unicode facility like Gmail. We are planning to soon start service for creating free email IDs in Indian scripts like other foreign multinational companies provide at present,” Data said.
The email service is being provided by Xgen Plus unit of Data group.

“After pioneering this technology of email service in Indian scripts, we have received interest from Russian and German entities. We will be also working with them to help them create email and website facility in their native scripts,” Data said.
