Taking technology closer to farmers, the National Rice Research Institute (NRRI) has developed a mobile app known as 'riceXpert' that will provide information related to farm practices.
The app will provide information to farmers in real time on insect pests, nutrients, weeds, nematodes and disease-related problems, rice varieties for different ecologies, farm implements for different field and post harvest operations, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said.
According to PTI report, the Minister informed that the app has web-based application systems which facilitates flow of information from the farmer to the farm scientist and get their instant solution.
The farmers will be able to send photos and voice messages through this mobile app which is a real boon to them, he added.
